Despite a strong start and a cool concept, Strange World fumbles the bag after its first act and never digs deeper into its characters or themes beyond the surface level. The dialogue is dry, the plot is plain, and the overall journey is kinda joyless. Nice to look at though, I guess? (And I hate that such authentic LGBTQ+ representation isn’t in a better film.)
Thought I was gonna get through Round 2 of Encanto without crying and then as SOON as they played the first chords of “Dos Oruguitas” I was a GONER.
Definitely one of Disney’s best in years. So many instantly lovable characters, such a compelling central mystery, and the songs largely SLAP (with “Surface Pressure” and “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” serving as the standouts).

Encanto is exceptional. Visually vibrant, extraordinarily emotional, and ultimately oh so uplifting. It is refreshing and reverential representation for the Afro-Latinx community complete with a cast of colorful and captivating characters who are sure to become fan favorites.
