i have a list of movies i’ve seen bits and pieces of on tv and/or with my dad over the years that i’ve never actually watched start-to-finish and heat’s been at the top of that list for ages but i never bit the bullet until tonight only because i saw a tweet about it today and thought you know what… this is a sign. it’s time.

anyway yeah there’s nothing i can say that hasn’t already been said a million…

we all knew barbie was going to be funny. we all knew it’d have something to say about the “female coming-of-age,” as all of greta gerwig’s movies have thus far. and we all knew margot robbie and ryan gosling would turn in note-perfect performances as barbie and ken. and they did.

what i didn’t know was how much barbie would mean - not truly, not fully. how much it would mean to me, to the women sitting to my left…
