So I haven't been active on Letterboxd in over a year. And since then, I really haven't watched too many movies. You may ask, why is that?

I used to watch 3-4 movies per week on average and was on this app every time that I had free. And while I certainly became a film buff over my course and I met so many interesting folk here, I really wasn't enjoying life. I felt that I just had to watch movies to keep up with what everyone was talking about on this app and to impress you all. By the end, I started to hate film.

But now 13 months after my last log, I return after noticing that I have Letterboxd saved on my Chrome quickaccess tab thingy. And now I do feel so much more free and alive that I wasn't constantly checking what people say about film. I give all my praise to God for leaving me away from constantly squandering my time with film and for focusing on people in real life (not that I hate anyone here or hate this website, both elements are fantastic!!)

And I even appreciate film now again, and I feel that I watch only when I need to watch something. I even read books now and listen to music.

So I still won't be on this website 24/7, but now again when I watch a film with the fam, I might log it on here.

Also, I really enjoyed this film. I saw it in the cinema with a couple of friends and we had a good time. I just love any story involving Spider-Man and I'm so excited to see what Marvel has in store for the next phase. Also, the cameo in the post credits was so shocking!!

this film was the pinnacle of weh movies

right from the opening scene I had little idea what going on with the dark environments and the CGI in that chase after they kill the strange worm lady wasn't the best

also the performances from pretty much every actor were lacking in likeability

the fact that there were only about 15 or so persons in the cinema screen only a week after it's release shows how not many wanted this movie to be made and Disney sure did make a bad job from marketing this and placing it so soon after Infinity War

after the first hour or so, which I consider to be almost as dull as Justice League, it does get a bit better and there is a sort of sense of excitement between the characters, although the colours were still lacking

and then it ends and it left me in a state of confusement

yeah I saw the trailers and I thought it looked bad and the animation looked strange

but then I saw it and it is one of the most enjoyable and smart movies I have seen and one of a few that felt like an

actual experience

Spielberg knows what kids like and what makes movies interesting and even put a welcoming message at the end

The AFI Top 100 Club: boxd.it/1irsW Film #32: The Maltese Falcon

while it's nothing outside what I was expecting, I tried to appreciate it as someone would back in 1941

and I'm sure they found great entertainment from the characters and I can understand why

but today, films don't really hold up compared to modern day media

also what if the falcon was made of malteser chocolate?

at the beginning I was very perplexed by what this story was trying to say and it seemed too coincidental

but as it progressed, the Indian culture just sivved in and I was able to appreciate the style

Boyle did a great job of informing me of the lifestyle and classes of Mumbai and I can absolutely see why this won best picture

of course, Wilder is able to show lights of modernism all over his pictures, even from the middle 40s and the things he creates just happen to all work as well as films created today, while most other old movies fail in that department

the thing that has just a hint of cringe, is the script
- it is well-written
- but it's too well-written

so when the man and the woman have a casual conversation, one simply states one point and the other comes back with something that has been tugged in from the outsides their brain, in a matter of seconds

maybe there are folk who operate like that but in my opinion, it creates a layer of unaware cringe-oxide over the film

everything from the moment the allied soldiers set their feet on enemy ground until they get plopped back in is purely a m u s i n g

although, is it just me or is it that the Nazis treat the men way too nicely

you know what, I quite enjoyed this film

it paints a nice picture of a man who was treated like an outsider his entire life and then comes full circle on itself,

even if frames were just sort of put beside each other in order and parts feel left out

but it's still quality enough for a history lesson

instead of being some overly tree-sappy story about a north-English boy who has bad parenting who happen to work in a mine, like Billy Elliot, Kes just shows you some scenes spanning what seems to be a few months

and the result is something quite distraught-worthy

yet another film to really push the late 60s reformation of cinema and into the 70s

you think that it's some generic early 90s family film, with a splash of goth, for about most of the runtime until the end and then you realise that you kinda actually were invested
