Just like 'Tales of the Jedi' from years prior, Tales of the Empire tells two smaller stories left open ended in other Star Wars media, specifically Morgan Elsbeth from Ahsoka and The Mandalorian and Barriss Offee from The Clone Wars TV Series. Its worth saying up front you will get next to nothing from this if you haven't really engaged with those shows.
Those who have engaged with those shows though will be delighted by the character arcs present. First off the Morgan Elsbeth stories make her a more engaging character in 40 minutes than she is in the whole Ahsoka show, and I like that show. The Barriss Offee stuff is where this really excels though, its well told and exciting. Star Wars animation I think always looks really good and this is no different the same care and attention has been put into a anniversary mini series than a whole tv series.
I really enjoyed this, it does a good job at showing the indoctrination and the real cruelty of the Empire, its worth a watch if you really like Star Wars or these characters.
