Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning

So this is it, the end of the road. The end of a franchise that has spanned 30 years. What a fitting end this was as well. An epic action packed finale with some of the craziest stunts in the entire franchise. While the first half is mainly a large exposition dump that spends most of its time using clips from the various films that come before it, the second half is nothing but good ol MI goodness. That’s not…

When I heard that The Weeknd was making a psychological thriller in the vein of Ari Aster and Nicholas Winding Refn, I was hyped…..and I knew/know nothing about Able aside from Blinding Lights. Week 20: Masaki Kobayashi

It’s about time I watched the #1 film on Letterboxd and it didn’t disappoint. A samurai epic that deals with the morality of that lifestyle and the implications of one man’s choices. Its performances are captivating and its cinematography is striking. It’s the #1 film on LB for a reason and I highly recommend it to everyone.

★★★★ Rewatched

Rewatched this while playing RoboCop: Rouge City (which had a really disappointing last third) and it still holds up for me. Fun action scenes, quotable dialogue and cool aesthetics. I do think the first half is just slightly better than the back half, but as a whole it’s still a really enjoyable 80’s sci fi flick.
