Rafael "Mister Movie" Jovine’s review published on Letterboxd:
Far from being the greatest wrap up of a trilogy, but far from being the worst. For the most part, almost like the second entry (and maybe the first one, but its been forever since I’ve seen it), a lot of the film for the most part feels "plotless." I mean, there’s the bare minimum of a thin plot that starts and ends, but a lot of the stuff in between feels like a series of sketches or vignettes thinly connected to the main “plot.” Though to this film’s credit, differently to Let There Be Carnage, this one feels less rushed and sketchy. There’s also a heart and some attempts at touching moments; funnily enough, they don’t have anything to do with our main duo but certain scenes involving a song played in a van. Also, Fabian Wagner's (which yes, I’ve interviewed in the past) cinematography is great and he gets more location to shoot resulting in arguably some (if not the) best cinematography from all three.
Performance wise, Hardy and Hardy both deliver a great performance and the camaraderie and banter between the two is still consistently good. Dumb, nonsense but quite amusing. The kid was cute and pretty good. Ifans made for solid comic relief; it’s been a minute I haven’t seen him this weirdo in a movie. As a fan of See Dad Run, it was great to see Alana in here. She doesn’t have much to do, but yeah... And the rest of the cast do their thing. Ejiofor and Temple are pretty much underutilized and honestly, anyone could have really played them. And Serkis as Knull, my man may have some of the most cliché dialogues and not really much have to do, but I am calling Leach on his bs, dude told me Knull only appeared at the opening and that’s it. But he does pop up a few more times, though I wasn’t expecting to see him in action. And the design with the face and all looks dope. I am intrigued by what will happen next with him. I know it would absolutely never happen and I haven’t read any Venom comics and whatnot, so I don’t know if that ever makes sense, but it would be cool if they could bring him to the MCU. But I don’t know; I’m guessing he’s more of a Spidey supervillain, so it would be great to see him maybe interacting with Holland or anyone else.
All in all, I can see why some may come out and call this a borefest and garbage. I am not going to sit here and deny I yawned a few times (though I didn’t sleep the right amount of hours I should, so that had something to do as well, tbh) but personally, I found this a decent watch. Probably, as in the other two movies, I’d not intentionally go back and see it, so I guess there’s that. But yeah, for what they have been, it was alright. There’s an argument to be made though that in of direction, Fleischer did the better job.
