Not much happens throughout this film, which I think is a testament to the lives these characters lead. Even when they take a trip to Florida, the paradise they were hoping to seek ends up being the same as the other places they've been in. Another thing that stays the same is the situations the characters find themselves in. Willie and Eddie go back to gambling, and Eva is left stuck at the motel; unable to get the independence she seems to crave.
