Spotlight on Animated Creatures

Image for this story

On the occasion of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, from June 8 to 14, LaCinetek and Culture are offering a special selection dedicated to animated creatures.

Animation unfolds an infinite array of possible worlds, populated by fantastic beings that question our relationship with otherness, nature, and imagination. Metamorphoses, hybrid beings, endearing or unsettling monster, these figures invite us to think differently about our environment, our history, and our emotions.

By turns poetic, humorous, or philosophical, the films in this selection explore the expressive richness of animation through the elements : water, air, earth and the creatures that inhabit them.

The Fabulous World of Jules Verne directed by Karel Zeman
