The Long Goodbye

Awesome movie, reminded me of inherent vice in some ways. Elliot Gould was a cool dude, I didn’t know you could light a match off plexiglass. I loved so much about this movie but then there were also some things I didn’t particularly care for. The scenes with the goons were the most memorable lowkey. Overall, the 1970s seem like a bad time music aside. Holy shit that’s an uncredited Arnold Schwarzenegger!

Unsurprising that this lived up to the hype. Long ass movie but it’s got so much great stuff wrapped into it. I had two intermissions because Optimum provides shitty wifi. Such incredible acting and man that sunglasses reflection is too good. Loved how intentional the way actors took up space was, felt like a play sometimes. Excited to see how Spike Lee puts his spin on it all.

In one scene in the cafeteria, Edward is talking to Bella and you can see the apartheid era South African flag over his shoulder. Either the set designer didn’t care or they didn’t recognize Nelson Mandela as the leader of South Africa - whatever the answer, that’s all I’m thinking about.
