Manhunter

1986

★★★★½ Liked

I truly think purely as a work, this might be Mann's greatest outing as an artist. He doesn't have De Niro or Pacino, he doesn't have Tom Cruise or Daniel Day, he takes a good performance from Peterson and turns it into a legendary one. From the synth score compiled with magnificent imagery, he gets the most possible out of everything. He put up 2018 LeBron numbers here with a shitty bench. Truly an unreal filmmaker that is being lost to time much like De Palma, their films live forever but I wish they were given more free reign to continue being the incredible artists they are.
