Throw away all the crap you don't need in a movie (plot, dynamic camerawork, varied framing) and boom, you've got some great stuff. Wes Anderson puts you at ease early on and then it's smooth sailing. Benicio Del Toro does a phenomenal job.

Snake Eyes gets better every rewatch. And maybe that's because I care less about the stuff that doesn't work for me. The final act still disappoints me considering how amazing the first 2/3 of the movie is.
Some streaming services include Rotten Tomatoes scores on them. Shocking to see a De Palma movie with all his hallmarks, still at the top of his game get such a bad critical reception.
Cage went on a tear after his Oscar win: becoming an action star with The Rock, Con Air, and Face/Off. Then gets to work with De Palma and Scorsese.
