2009

★★½ 2

The epic conclusion to the Jack Hunter trilogy comes with a lot of sappy music and melodrama, but after three of these movies, I'd be lying if I said I'm not just a little bit sad to part with the gang!

Death Note

2006

★★★ Watched

So damn good, and tightly paced, and clever, and engaging (for about 11 episodes and also the finale and also maybe episode 23)

People usually seem to talk about the last 12 episodes of this being disliked but honestly I felt about the same on those episodes as I did with the middle section of the show. I love how each of these basically end with “I know we came here to investigate this, but shit got TOO spooky, so we just decided to move on to the next case.”

Cold Creek Manor

2003

★★ 2

Why does this movie’s main theme sound like a badly rendered boss theme midi from an obscure SNES rpg? And why does it play over serious moments like it’s supposed to be tense?
