They just don't make them like they used to. Big, epic and sprawling with adventure with enormous amounts of Harryhausen doing what he does best along the way. The skeleton fight is honestly one of the coolest and most impressive sequences in a movie ever.

"Our intentions shape this world quietly"

The switching back and forth from found footage to good ol' regular filmmaking has its annoyances that sort of take you out of the immersion and the unconventional way of telling its story is odd.... but, the strength of its other qualities such as its creepy mountainside village, spooky use of sound, dive into supernatural evil that is black, vile and covered in weird magic and its surprising emotional weight keep it held above water enough to be a good addition to this little corner of the genre that gets a lot of hate.
