Did not know anything about the plot of this going in. But double Michael B. Jordan was enough for me.
Imagine my surprise when I was treated to a beautifully shot vampire movie, love story (ies), musical history, and satisfying revenge story.
Honestly wanted to walk back in and watch it again.
Despite Josh Hartnett doing his level best to be Christian Bale in American Psycho, this movie does not know whether it is serial killer satire, crappy concert movie, or police procedural.
The police/FBI coordination is high camp. Is Hayley Mills destitute? Why is she in this movie and what is she supposed to be up to?
M. Night’s daughter is so bad, it would be a twist for her to be good. Alas there is no twist. Just…

Unrequited love between death row inmate and police secretary.
Requited love between lieutenant and death row inmate.
Actual child murder. I was sincerely shocked by this.
